__SALUTATION__
I'm proud to share that I joined my Assembly and Senate colleagues in passing a legislative budget agreement that makes historic investments in public schools, affordable housing, and health care while protecting California families. The final budget is now being negotiated with the Governor, and we're working to ensure it reflects California values.
We voted to make record investments in public education, including for teacher recruitment and retention, billions more for students and schools, and $350 million for California's Newcomer Education and Well-Being Program to help immigrant and newcomer students succeed.

To address our housing crisis, the budget agreement invests more than $1 billion to build affordable housing and help people experiencing homelessness, while advancing a multibillion-dollar housing bond that will allow voters to fund even more homes across California.
At a time when health care is under attack in Washington, we protected access to care by rejecting harmful cuts to Medi-Cal, clinics, and dental care, helping lower Covered California premiums, supporting hospitals, and preserving critical services for California families. I also helped secure funding for California's Warm Line, providing mental health support before people reach a crisis.
There is still more work ahead, but as Washington creates uncertainty, California is choosing to invest in people, strengthen our communities, and build for the future.
Sincerely,

Matt Haney
